On February 11th, it was 14 degrees above zero, and I decided to go for a bike ride in the snow.

It’s hard to explain why I like riding in the snow and cold. Perhaps because the raw exposure to the elements makes me feel alive. But it doesn’t matter, because that’s not what this story is about.

Three miles into my ride I stopped to adjust my face mask, attempting to cover a section of open skin (If you’re riding 15 mph on a bike, the wind chill is about zero degrees at that temperature).

About a hundred yards or so up the trail, I noticed a fellow with his bike pulled over. He was hauling a ragged trailer behind his bike, covered with a green tarp, tied down tight. It looked as if he may be trying to repair a flat tire.

There was a dog, a shepherd mix, prancing around, playing with sticks and blocks of ice from the side of the trail.

I guessed this fellow was homeless, living out of his bike trailer.

So I dug out my wallet, snagged five singles, and rode up to him, inquiring if he had a flat tire.

He answered cheerily that he did not, and he had just stopped to dig some food out for his dog. There was a can of tuna under his kickstand, holding his bike up, so it didn’t keel over from the weight of the trailer. He had pulled out a few pans and a mug, which were laying on the trail beside the bike.

I asked him rather sheepishly if he could use a few bucks.

He hesitated a moment, and said “Yes, I’ll buy some food for Hope”.

I handed him the cash and he thanked me.

Then he started to tell me his story, explaining the circumstances that led to living on the street, in the dead of winter.

He had been working “fire mitigation” in Nederland, a small mountain town to the west. In June of this year, he had injured his back pretty badly, ending up in the hospital. He was unable to go back to work at his job, and could not find another that didn’t involve using his back.

So he lost his ability to pay rent, and ended up homeless.

In June, he had another spasm attack in his back, ending up in the hospital again. Anyone who has a bad back knows that sometimes you can’t predict what is going to throw your back out. It could be lifting that 80 lb. bag of concrete, or bending over to tie your shoes.

He scratched his dog lovingly, and explained that if he were to take his dog to the Humane Society and give her up, he’d be able to find a place to live immediately. But in his situation, he can’t find anyone who will accept pets. And he is “Not Going to Give up Hope”.

Then I got it.

Hope was the name of his Dog.

He went on to explain that Hope was six years old, and he’d had her since she was a pup. He described how the Humane Society here in Boulder gives him food for Hope, and he supplements it by buying her tuna (that explained the can of tuna under his kickstand).

He figures he probably has another six years or so with her before she dies, and he’s willing to spend it living on the streets, with his bike and his trailer, if it means keeping Hope safe.

I was speechless, never having witnessed such devotion between a man and his dog. This man was well spoken and articulate. Life had thrown him a few curveballs, but he kept standing back up.

And he loves his dog.

He wasn’t asking for charity. I just happened to stop and offer it. My reward was a lesson on love of animals, and the kindness of human spirit.

We went on chatting for another twenty minutes or so, on the side of the trail in the snow and cold, like old buddies hanging out together. He told me of other spasm attacks he had recently with his back, ending up on the ground for several hours at a time, unable to move, with Hope licking his face.

I asked where he spent his nights and he answered that he keeps moving, so he won’t get a ticket. (Boulder just recently enacted a new law after the “Occupy” event on the courthouse lawn, outlawing sleeping in the parks).

At a certain point in every conversation there comes a time when it is over. Both of us sensed that moment, and he stated that he knew I had other things to do besides standing on the trail talking with him. He asked me what my first name was, and stretched out his hand.

I answered “Dan”. He shook my hand and introduced himself with his full name.

Then he added “Today is my 50th birthday. I really appreciate the five bucks you gave me, and Hope will enjoy it too. But mostly, I appreciate you just taking the time to talk with me. I don’t have many friends. I spend all my time with Hope.”

Choking back my emotions, I thanked him for talking with me as well, mumbling something about how much it meant to me. And continued on my ride.

As I rode on through the cold and snow, I couldn’t get this chance encounter out of my mind. In thirty minutes, this gentleman had given me a raw lesson on life and love. On the side of a trail in the snow.

My destination for this wintery ride was the grocery store, picking up some dinner for my family. I found myself in the canned food aisle, buying tuna, hoping to find Hope on the ride home.

I took the same route home, searching for this man and his dog. I rode around the area for awhile, poking my head under bridges and other places where I would camp on a snowy night if I had a dog and wanted to avoid getting ticketed.

But he was nowhere to be found.

I look for him on my daily rides, with a stack of tuna cans in my backpack, searching for Hope.

Maybe we’ll meet again. I guess it doesn’t really matter though.

This man and his dog had a profound impact on me, reinforcing my faith in human nature and my desire to do some bit of good in the world, however I can.

If you dream of owning a thriving business that provides you with the income and lifestyle that you dream about, we’re going to give you all the tools you need to make your dream a reality in 2012.

Big statement, yes?

I’m here to tell you that it is far more possible than you would ever imagine.

The answers and assistance you need are readily available in hundreds of places. My role as your guide is to point you in the right direction, and be at your side to nudge you along the path.

I’m going to show you the process I’ve used to generate over thirty million dollars in revenue since 1979. I’ll show you the process I used to launch a business last year with a crummy web site, no customers and zero marketing budget, resulting in $1.6 Million in revenue within nine months.

Does this sound unbelievable? OK, let’s bring it down to earth.

It’s the same process I used to create a $61,000 promotion in 2011 without investing a dime. This was accomplished with no customers, no investment and no website. Just my knowledge of how successful marketing works.

And that was just one deal in 2011.

If you open every email I send you in 2012 and pay close attention, I’ll expose you to the time-tested strategies I use, so you can do the exact same thing.

OK. Enough pontificating. Let’s jump right in.

In my 35 year career as a business development specialist, I’ve paid close attention to what works, and what…doesn’t.

It boils down to three major skill sets.

If you want to be successful as an entrepreneur, you need to:

1.) Have some area of “Specialized Knowledge” where you can excel (and are passionate about)

2.) Learn how to attract attention to yourself, and your expertise

3.) Employ “best practices” in regard to marketing , sales and customer management

Yes…it sounds overly simplistic…and vaguely complicated at the same time.

But EVERY SINGLE ONE of these skill sets can be learned.

And I’ll walk you through each one of them.

You have the ability to learn and master all the skills required to be a happy and successful entrepreneur.

What is the most important thing you can do now?

Easy.

Be open to new ideas and be willing to invest in yourself.

Commit to investing time and effort every day to flex your entrepreneurial muscle and improve your life.

Every week, I’ll be sharing stories and insights that will help make your dreams a reality.

The most important part?

TAKE ACTION.

The vast overwhelming majority of people let their dreams wither and fail miserably, simply because they do not…

TAKE ACTION.

2012 can be your year. If you let it be.

I am not here to sell some bill of goods to you, convincing you that you should follow any particular professional path (you fill in the blank).

I’m here to show you HOW you can take your passions and transform them into a meaningful living for yourself, and those that depend upon you.

And I’m looking forward to the journey. Hope you are, too.

With respect and gratitude,

With the economy still struggling, you may find yourself seeking new ways to put extra cash in your pocket. One method is to find unused or unwanted items in your house and sell them online. Sure, you could take the time to set up accounts on eBay or Amazon, but those sites take a substantial cut of the profits. Furthermore, you have to package and ship items when they sell.

Unlike other websites, Craigslist does not require a seller account, nor do they charge fees. By selling your unused items, you can de-clutter your home and make a tidy profit. If you wish to further your income, you can actively seek and purchase items to resell through Craigslist.

Tips to Sell Items on Craigslist

Selling items online is a time-intensive endeavor. You must conduct research, take good photos, and write product descriptions that will effectively sell your items.

1. Research Your Items

Conduct online research to correctly price your items. I check Craigslist to see if other people have listed similar items and to review market prices.

Additionally, I visit http://www.moneycrashers.com/ebay-selling-tips-maximize-profits and conduct an advanced search for my items, narrowing my selection to view completed listings only. By using this search, I can quickly view completed sales, which display the final sale prices in green. I can also view asking prices for unsold items, displayed in red, by using the completed listings search.

2. Intelligently Price Items

Armed with your market value research, set a fair and reasonable price for your items. I treat Craigslist like an online pawn shop or yard sale, as people almost always ask for a discount. With this in mind, I usually include a cushion of about 10% to leave room for negotiations while maintaining my profit margins.

3. Post Your Items

When posting your item for sale, include a clear and basic headline describing what you are selling. In the body of your post, include a detailed description of the item, including the make, model number, condition, and any additional accessories, if applicable.

Next, list the asking price and include your contact information. Finally, you can have better selling success on Craigslist if you include photos with your post. Use a white background, and take multiple photos from a variety of angles in natural light.

4. Meet With the Buyer

Once you have agreed on a price, meet with the buyer to make the exchange. Meeting at a neutral, public location, such as a coffee shop or restaurant, will maintain your privacy and ensure your safety.

5. Receive Payment

Be wary of scam artists that prey on Craigslist sellers. It is highly advisable to only accept cash and to never agree to ship an item to anyone. All transactions should take place in person.

Tips to Buy Items to Resell on Craigslist

Take your ability to generate income to the next level. Once I sold all the unwanted items in my house, I researched the asking prices for several items listed on Craigslist and knew I could find them at cheaper prices to resell for a profit. This only requires a few hours of my time each week, and I bring home an average of $400 per month.

1. Find Items to Sell

Check out pawn shops, thrift stores, and yard sales in your area to find used items at rock-bottom prices. When I first started reselling online, my first few items sold fairly quickly and for a tidy profit. I then reinvested these funds into my new business and began to buy more items to resell. I have had the most success buying and reselling deeply discounted small electronics, sports memorabilia, and DVDs that I find at yard sales.

2. Research in Real-Time

You never know what you might find when you’re scouring for deals, and doing your research in real-time can help you decide exactly what to purchase. One way to do immediate research for market prices is by using a smartphone. As you gain more experience and become a savvy reseller, you may not need to rely on real-time research quite as much.

3. Negotiate the Price

You can always negotiate prices at yard sales, as sellers are eager to clear their clutter. Pawn shops also negotiate with buyers, so look for the dates the items came into the pawn shops on the price tags. Pawn shops usually offer discounts on items they have had in the showroom for several months. I’ve never had much luck negotiating prices at thrift stores, but it never hurts to ask.

To learn more about negotiating prices, go to:

http://www.moneycrashers.com/negotiation-techniques-to-score-a-great-deal

Final Thoughts

Though I have taken minor losses on some items I’ve attempted to sell via Craigslist, I have also hit my fair share of home runs. Just remember to be cautious – high-priced items can attract thieves and scam artists.

Furthermore, you may receive strange emails asking you to accept more than your asking price if you agree to ship items and accept a check or money order. Don’t fall prey to these tactics and Craigslist scams. Only deal with people in person in public places, and only accept cash. Ultimately, you’ll have extra money, a cleaner house, and you just might find yourself interested in starting a small business.

First, a big WELCOME! to all the new Skill Highway members who joined this week.

I’ve been thinking a lot about all the things I want to share with you, to get you started down the path toward owning (or expanding) your own business.

There’s so much to learn, that it can get overwhelming real fast. So today I’m going to talk a little bit about one of the core outlooks that any entrepreneur needs to be successful in today’s hyper-competitive business world.

I know, “Mathematics of Marketing” sounds duller than dirt.

BUT…thinking like a math geek can be quite fascinating, and it has EVERYTHING to do with your success. You don’t even need your own business for this to have an immediate impact on your life.

And you don’t need any more math skills than you learned in Elementary School.

Let me give you a quick, REAL LIFE example how Mathematical acuity recently helped me earn over $800 per hour:

This fall, I decided to partner with a fellow who teaches a course on how to create and sell iPhone Apps. He puts on a killer (free) webinar, showing people how to make their own iPhone Apps, and how to monetize them.

At the end of the webinar, he upsells to a six week, intensive coaching course he provides.

That is where the money is, for everyone involved.

My role was to find new (paying) customers. And I get a healthy share of the revenue generated.

I reached out to a client of mine who had an appropriate list that seemed like it might be a good fit. They agreed to give it a whirl, and we developed all the appropriate marketing messages, autoresponder follow ups, etc.

Here’s how it shook out:

I sent two emails to 470,000 people, telling them about the webinar

1,541 people registered for the webinar
302 people actually attended the live webinar
147 people watched the replay of the webinar (for a total of 449)
$29,000 in Gross Sales were generated from the webinar

Here’s the Math:

Each webinar attendee was worth $65 ($29,000 / 449 attendees)
Each person who registered for the webinar was worth $18.81
My cut (after splitting revenue with the webinar provider and list owner) was $4.70 per registrant.

HOW MATH AFFECTS MY MARKETING OF THIS PRODUCT:

On a very basic level, every time I get ONE person to register for this webinar, I earn $4.70!
My next role was to go out and find more partners, since I knew what a registration is worth to me.

That generated some more math!

In brief, I approached 37 potential partners, entered into four different discussions, and signed an agreement with one that I thought would be a fit.

The PRIMARY REASON I was able to land them as a marketing partner is that I could quote exact numbers, based upon experience.

I didn’t just approach them saying “Gee, would you please send an email to your list, selling my stuff?”. I had facts.

The results?

I provided them with all the marketing materials, proven marketing copy, autoresponder series, etc. We even tuned it up a bit, to generate higher conversions.

Their numbers almost EXACTLY matched what I describe above, and generated $31,000 in sales.

NET RESULT:

I invested about twenty hours of my time, generated $60,000 in Gross income and about $16,000 in NET income, or about $800 per hour.

…and I don’t even own an iPhone. Wouldn’t know what to do with one, if I held it in my hand.

WHAT THIS MEANS FOR YOU:

I did not tell you this story to brag.

What I’ve described above is a common experience in my line of work. Finding potential opportunities, evaluating them, running the numbers, and employing smart marketing to make it happen.

YOU can do the same thing.

Get accustomed to looking at opportunities from a mathematical mindset. It can help you tremendously in your evaluation and pursuit of business opportunities.

Naturally, there is a lot more that goes into it, but understanding HOW to think about business helps you to find “diamonds in the rough” and convert them into hard cash.

This is a VERY wide and deep discussion that is far beyond the scope of this article. But I hope you are intrigued enough to begin considering the math behind every opportunity you investigate!

If you have any questions about this article, please enter them in the comments section. I’ll do my best to answer!

Warm regards,
Dan Page

I talk to many people who are discouraged, and sometimes desperate about how to support themselves and the people that depend upon them.

It is scary as heck, looking into that huge void of “Work-at-Home” opportunities on the Internet. It seems there are scams and thieves everwhere, trying to cheat you out of your hard-earned money.

And yes…they are out there.

BUT…the good news is that there ARE real opportunities that exist. Lots of them!

So one of the ways I’m trying to help is to profile real people who struggled through adversity and succeeded.

People just like you, who look in the mirror and ask…”What am I going to do?”

Below is a short article from Izzy Goodman, one of our esteemed “Skill Experts” here on Skill Highway.

A few short years ago, Izzy found himself laid off in his mid-fifties, with nowhere to turn. So instead of whining about how unfair life was, he focused…and decided to do something about it.

Today, Izzy has a successful business that he developed after some trial and error, and PERSISTENCE.

I hope you take heart from Izzy’s story, and start down the path to entrepreneurship today.

My best wishes to you and those you love. -Dan Page

Now Is A Great Time for You to Create A Succesful Online Business

by Izzy Goodman of www.ccs-digital.com

I started a website while working a full-time job developing web payroll applications for a major television company. At the time the site was meant to warn people about Internet scams and rip offs. I offered a few products to help defray costs.

Two years ago, after several rounds of layoffs, I found myself in my fifties, unemployed during the worst job market in decades. The few positions available weren’t paying anywhere near the salary I had been making. I decided to concentrate on building up the online business, now mostly devoted to selling ink cartridges.

I studied SEO and brought the site to the top of the search engines. I began ordering in larger quantities directly from the manufacturers. Then I discovered some unique reusable ink cartridges which cut printing costs by about 90%.

Today www.ccs-digital.com is a full-time family business. Though the income has not yet entirely replaced my salary, it is already more than I could expect from a full-time job today, growing steadily and yet I work part-time from home.

It used to take tens of thousands of dollars to start a business. Today you can launch an online business with a few hundred dollars. But to be successful, you have to keep certain things in mid.

1) Don’t listen to the naysayers who claim there’s too much competition. There is plenty of competition in the ink cartridge market yet I am still doing well.

2) Don’t listen to the overly optimistic people who believe all you have to do is throw up a website (and some sites look like that was done literally) and orders will come pouring in. It will take a well-designed site, marketing campaigns and regular effort.

3) Don’t listen to those who say it will cost thousands of dollars in pay-per-click or paying some “expert” to get your site higher in the rankings. You can do much of what is needed yourself – as I did. There are many true experts who answer questions on the net. If you need more help, they are available to assist for reasonable fees. You know it’s true since you found SkillHighway.com

I’ve had a lot of requests from Skill HIghway members who are interested in learning how to spot Work-at-Home Scams. The scammers have become so proficient at their trade, sometimes it is hard to tell the difference between a real opportunity and a Fraud.

I recently interviewed Bethany Mooradian, a Work-at-Home expert and author of the book “I Got Scammed, So You Don’t Have To”.

Below is an article by Bethany that I think you’ll find very helpful in avoiding the slimy scammers out there, that are trying to steal your money.

Bethany speaks from experience. She earns an impressive living by helping companies like landlords, banks and others to verify their customer service and business operations are up to snuff.

Imagine earning money by checking to make sure customer service and staff employees are doing what they are supposed to be doing? Almost sounds “too good to be true”, but this is EXACTLY what Bethany does. And she’ll show you how she does it!

Follow this link to learn what Bethany does, and how you can do it too!

Click Here to learn Bethany’s program

Here’s Bethany’s article…Enjoy! -Dan

After being an independent contractor for more than a decade, I’ve developed a sort of sixth sense when it comes to identifying scams. It’s not hard for me to read over a posting, e-mail, or “opportunity” to decipher what is a real job and worth my time, and what is a clever ploy trying to deceive me. I get requests all the time to help others do the same, and it really comes down to simple common sense, easily determined by my SCRAM™ formula:

S	Scrutinize the source
C	Check for affiliate links, surveys, and fees
R	Research the heck out of every little bit of information they give you
A	Ask for more info
M	Mouse over images and links to see where they really go!

S = Scrutinize the Source

Your first role when looking at a job ad is to completely and un-objectively scrutinize the source. This means you need to consider where you got the information about the job or opportunity from, the motives they have for you to view it, and the content inside the ad.

Where did you find the ad/hear about the company? Just because your friends told you about it, doesn’t make it legit. Google ads, Magazines, and even media interviews aren’t necessarily informing you of real jobs…someone may be paying to get the information out there.

Did they contact you or did you contact them? Many phishing attempts are through resumes posted on LinkedIn.com or Monster.com

What time of day did they post or contact you? Many scammers are located overseas and may post during the hours that we’re sleeping

How formal is the language in the post or email? This should be obvious. If the ‘employer’ doesn’t use proper spelling or grammar, it could be because they’re overseas and not familiar with the nuances of our language.

C = Check for Affiliate Links, Fees, and Surveys

If you see an affiliate link this means the person is earning a slight commission off of the sale of the product or service you are purchasing. THIS IS NOT A SCAM. You are purchasing something, not getting a job. Know the difference so you can have reasonable expectations.

If there are fees for the job, check out the ‘employer’ thoroughly. Scammers will be happy to charge you lots of money and not deliver. However, some legitimate companies do charge for training or background checks. This is ok. Just do some more research on the company before you get started.

Legitimate companies do use surveys to weed out people who don’t have the right skill-set. However, if there is a survey, you might want to fill it out with fake information first because scammers may just be trying to bait you to get your contact info to sell or use later.

R = Research the Heck Out of Every Detail!

There are so many resources available to you to determine whether a company is real or not, just based on the information they give you. Here are some things you can do:

Google/Yahoo/Bing everything you can find: The company’s name, email, the physical address, the phone number, the name of the person who contacted you and see what comes up.

Search LinkedIn and Facebook: You can actually search a person by email. So if Bob Smith contacts you, search for his email in Facebook…you’ll find out really quickly if it’s Bob Smith or not.

Research the Company’s Website: Go to www.whois.com or www.dnstools.com to look up the domain and see how long the company has been around. If they’re claiming to have over a decade of experience, but they’ve only had a website for 6 months, you know something is fishy.

Look up the IP address that contacted you: By opening up the full headers in your email, you can find the IP address of the sender. Go to www.ARIN.net to look it up and get a general idea of where it came from. It’s not an exact science, but if the email originated in a different country, you’ll be able to tell quickly.

What do other people have to say about it? Visit www.RipoffReport.com to see if it’s listed and what kind of complaints people have about the company or person.

A = Ask for More Information

If the company doesn’t tell you enough in its ad, contact them politely with a different name and e-mail address to get more information. This is especially effective with job boards, when companies may not list their contact information. That way when they e-mail you back, you can research their e-mail and IP address to know if they are indeed a real company or a waste of time. Once you make that initial contact, you can then contact them again with your real information, confident that you’ll be safe from scammers.

Keep in mind that since so many people are applying for jobs now, you may not actually hear back from the company. Sometimes I feel like if I don’t hear from a company, it means it’s legitimate, because scammers will take any opportunity to keep you interested!

M = Mouse Over Images and Links

We don’t read anymore…we scan. So scammers take advantage of this by creating fake website names that look like trustworthy companies. For example, once upon a time, there was a www.PayPa1.com website. (notice there is a #1 in place of an “l”) Paypal now owns this site, but it used to belong to a scammer. Really look at the links you’re clicking on to make sure you’re going to the site you want.

Also, you can hover your mouse over an image or link and the destination web address will appear in the lower browser bar. You may be clicking on an image that says “Apply now for home jobs at Google”, but you’d actually be going somewhere other than the Google career board. Hover before you click!

While you’re mousing around, don’t forget to look for affiliate links or check to see if the links are cloaked with url shortners like www.tinyurl.com or www.bit.ly or others. If a shortener is used, you can go to www.realurl.org to find out the true destination of the web link. That will prevent you from going to a site you don’t want, or even downloading malicious software.

When you follow these simple SCRAM™ steps, you’ll be well on your way to figuring out whether companies are really looking for an employee, are trying to sell you on an opportunity, or just want to scam you. Once you get in the habit of using these tools, it will become second nature and you’ll never have to ask yourself again, “Is this a real job or a scam?”

No one has done more to educate the American public about available government money programs than Matthew Lesko.

Over 30 years ago, as an ex-Naval Officer armed with a MBA in Computer Information Systems, Lesko started with only a phone and desk in a one bedroom apartment, but soon had over 30 employees in a big office on K Street, in downtown Washington, DC. Lesko’s brainstorm was showing Fortune 500 executives how to take advantage of little-known government programs. These business leaders did not care how much the information cost because they were turning this information into millions.

Growing up in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania, Lesko never knew about such government programs and was constantly surprised when he kept uncovering more and more freebies that his rich clients could spin into gold.

After a few years, Lesko got bored helping these fat cats. He thought: “Why don’t average people know about all this free money and help from government programs?”

Since then, he has concentrated on getting this information out to the average American. He authored over 100 books–two became New York Times Best Sellers, and two won awards for Best Reference Book of the Year. He was a columnist for the New York Times Syndicate, Good Housekeeping magazine, The Chicago Tribune, and others. Lesko has appeared on hundreds of radio and television shows including The Today Show, Larry King, Letterman, Jay Leno, Good Morning America, and Oprah. With his altruistic exuberance and enthusiasm, Lesko became a favorite guest on shows like Letterman and Larry King, especially when some big star canceled at the last minute. Now Lesko’s TV time consists mainly of off-the-wall infomercials, and he is ranked among the top ten most recognized infomercial personalities.

Lesko is done writing books, believing his Web service allows him to provide even more personal education and services about government programs for only $20, in contrast to 30 years ago when he charged CEOs $10,000 for the exact same information. Isn’t the government great…it even created the World Wide Web. And Lesko wants to show how the government can help you create something new in your life too. And it’s FREEEEEE

I recently interviewed Matthew from the comfort of his kitchen. To watch this (video) interview and see Matthew in all his glory, CLICK HERE.

I have a great interview for you today, that could open your eyes to looking at your business in a whole new way.

But first…Did you miss our Social Media webinars? If so, don’t worry, because I got you covered!

Our first webinar was with YouTube Guru Jon Leland. Jon dug in and showed us how to “Get Started With YouTube for Business”. Nothing short of 55 minutes worth of specific advice on why you should be using YouTube and how to get the most out of it for your Business. To watch this webinar, click the link below:

The second Social Media webinar was brought to you, courtesy of Janet Fouts. Janet was there like a good friend for 57 minutes, explaining how to get set up on Facebook and start building fans. I know that many of you already have a Facebook page. But even if you do, Janet shared some great tips that can make your Facebook experience a much more profitable one! Click the link below to watch Janet’s webinar!

Now…more on why “Making Money is Killing Your Business”

From my thirty plus years as a successful entreprenuer, I can tell you without a doubt that some of the finest advice I’ve ever applied to my business has been seemingly counterintuitive. So I’ve learned to watch for these nuggets of wisdom and covet them.

Enter Chuck Blakeman, author of “Making Money is Killing Your Business” and highly respected entrepreneur.

Chuck and I recently had an enlightening conversation about his philosophy and how he helps people get off the Treadmill to live the lives they really want. Using their business as a tool to achieve what they want.

Chuck has four building blocks that he stands by as the pillars to success. Chuck also believes feverently that you can bring any business to maturity in 3-5 years, using his building blocks.

I highly recommend listening to Chuck’s advice! CLICK HERE to listen to the interview!

I hope you and yours have a wonderful weekend!

Let’s just jump right in here:

Direct Mail has been responsible for HUGE revenues, both for my business and that of my clients. Not to mention the millions of dollars earned through direct mail by savvy marketers worldwide.

I had the distinct pleasure of learning about direct mail from some of the luminaries in the business, such as Dan Kennedy, John Carlton and many more. If you’re not using direct mail in your marketing mix, you’re missing out on a huge opportunity. Especially since many marketers are addicited to hitting the “send” button on their computer, and wouldn’t dream of using paper and stamps.

Big mistake.

Don’t get me wrong. I LOVE Internet marketing. But I also know that the same promotion in direct mail can often generate FIVE TIMES the response.

But you have to know what you’re doing. And I have a great way for you to get your feet wet.

One of our esteemed Skill Experts is a gentleman by the name of John Shulte. John is the President of The National Mail Order Association (www.nmoa.org). If you want great info…go right to the source!

A couple weeks ago, I interviewed John about how to use direct mail. We start out with a basic overview, then dive into many of the definitions and details, explaining how to buy lists and how to use them effectively.

If you want to crack the nut of direct mail and begin reaping the rewards, here is your chance!

To listen in on this fantastic interview, CLICK HERE.

To your health and happiness,

Hey all,

I’ve had some requests from Skill Highway members to do some webinars on “How to Use Social Media to Effectively Market Your Business”

And as you know, we aim to please!

So I’ve had the distinct pleasure of interviewing and getting to know several social media experts, and we’re ready to start a series of social media webinars!

The FIRST WEBINAR is this Friday, May 13th at 1:00 PM Eastern. It is Free to attend.

I’ll admit to you that with my oppressive schedule, I’ve been slow to jump on the social media bandwagon (outside of LinkedIn, that is). Crazy, but true. So I’m looking forward to learning everything possible about Facebook, and how to use it effectively without burning up those precious hours!
